Trinity Railway Express
Between Irving and Dallas, Texas

Hanson-Wilson Inc. offered its services for the construction of the second track for the Trinity Railway Express (part of DART system) between Irving and Dallas, Texas for 79-MPH train operations. The project involved two new bridges, new interlockings, grade crossings and re-profile of Wildwood Drive.

Bridge 637.0 over the Elm Fork of the Trinity River is a 1523 ft long structure consisting of 46 precast concrete approach spans and a 140 ft thru plate girder main span with steel ballast deck & walkways. The approaches are founded on pile bents while the main span rests on concrete piers with piling. The new structure was build 25 ft offset from the existing bridge at this location. The timber trestle approaches of the existing span are also to be replaced as a part of this project.

Bridge 637.45 over Regal Row is a 196 ft long structure consisting of steel beams and a cast-in-place concrete ballast deck & walkway. The four spans are seated on cast-in-place concrete piers and abutments founded on 36 in. and 48in. diameter drilled shafts. The new bridge is being constructed 20 ft offset of the existing bridge and was designed to match it aesthetically.
