KANSAS CITY, Mo.-Gary Potts has been named
president of Hanson-Wilson Inc., a nationally recognized engineering
firm serving the railroad industry. Hanson-Wilson Inc. was formed
in 1969 as a joint venture between Hanson Professional Services
Inc. and Wilson & Company, Inc. More than 800 HWI professional
and technical staff in 28 offices serve the railroad industry nationwide
with engineering, architecture, surveying and environmental services.
Potts, a registered professional engineer, joined Hanson-Wilson
in 1986, and has served as a principal and project manager on major
projects for the last 12 years.
Sergio "Satch" Pecori has been named chairman of the board.
Pecori, who is also chief executive officer and president of Hanson
Professional Services Inc., has served on the HWI board since 1990.
In addition to Pecori, board members are John Coombe, Donald Fleming,
Steve Metro, William Brewster and James Gibbs.
Fleming and Metro will oversee operations for HWI. Fleming, a registered
professional engineer and structural engineer, has managed programs
for the railroad focusing on bridges. Metro, also a registered professional
engineer, has overseen projects involving highway and rail design,
hydrology and complicated scheduling and logistics. Both Fleming
and Metro will ensure quality of service and provide administrative
leadership for the HWI staff.
Hanson-Wilson Inc., headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., has provided
engineering services on projects such as the $187 million Union
Pacific Global III Intermodal Facility in Rochelle, Ill., one of
the largest intermodal facilities in the country; the Alameda Corridor,
a $2.4 billion transportation rail corridor in California; and a
number of other major railroad projects in the United States, Canada
and Mexico. Clients include the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway
Company, Union Pacific Railroad, Canadian National Railway Company,
Canadian Pacific, Kansas City Southern, Ferrocarril Mexico (Ferromex),
Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana (TFM), Amtrak, many short line
